CIE Welcome Letter

Welcome, new Obies! I am so glad you have chosen Oberlin College & Conservatory as your educational home!

I am Dr. Kyle R. Williams (he/they) and I am proud to serve as your Assistant Vice President and Dean for Intercultural Engagement at Oberlin. In this role, I have the pleasure of co-creating your student experience through the Center for Intercultural Engagement.

The mission of the Center for Intercultural Engagement (CIE) is to foster a sense of inclusion and belonging by recognizing, embracing, and celebrating the intersectionality of student identities at Oberlin. The CIE is comprised of teams: the Multicultural Resource Commons (MRC), the Office for Disability and Access (ODA), the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (ORSL)International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), and the Gender, Sexuality, and Attraction Initiatives (GSAI).

This work is also spearheaded by my leadership team, Josh Whitson (he/him), Associate Dean for Intercultural Engagement, Kimberly S. Springer (she/her), Assistant Dean for Intercultural Engagement, and Jessica Reese, Manager of the Center for Intercultural Engagement.

Be on the lookout for events and opportunities posted in the daily Campus Digest, follow and engage with us through our Instagram pages, and our website. All of our programs and services are free and open to all students!

You can find our offices, testing center, and lounge spaces on the first and second floors of Wilder Hall. We are looking forward to welcoming you and your families to our campus, and we encourage you to stop by to see us!

We look forward to meeting you soon!
