Issue 11: Two Big Ways We've Got Your Back

You’re just a few short weeks away from taking your first steps into a welcoming new community! One way we ensure this supportive environment for everyone is through the implementation of policies that clarify the relationship between your personal freedom and your responsibilities to Oberlin’s campus community.
Of course, everybody makes mistakes. Our policies exist in part to prioritize teachable moments over punishment when violations occur. Below are two important policies we want to mention here; you can find information about all Oberlin policies on the Student Conduct website:
Oberlin Honor Code: Adopted in 1930, the Honor Code is the policy that upholds academic integrity at Oberlin. The code is unique in that it is administered by students—the Student Honor Committee—and it places trust in the hands of students. For each assignment, you will sign the Honor Pledge, through which you acknowledge that you did not cheat, plagiarize, fabricate, or falsify information.
You’ll learn more about the Honor Code during New Student Orientation.
Alcohol and Hazing Education: All incoming students are required to complete brief online courses in alcohol and hazing prevention awareness prior to arriving on campus.
TO DO THIS WEEK: Complete both online courses on alcohol and hazing education; links from Vector Solutions will be sent to your Oberlin email on Friday, June 26. This training must be completed no later than Friday, August 21. If you did not receive an email from Vector, please contact Senior Associate Dean of Students Thom Julian at tjulian@oberlin.edu.
