Issue 9: Music--It's in Our DNA

Ready, Set, Oberlin! A week-by-week guide to prepare for your arrival

Students dancing

No matter what you choose to study at Oberlin—in the college or the conservatory—you’ve chosen a campus that places musical resources at your fingertips in ways that no other place can.

Whether you plan to pursue music, science, art, or anything else, the conservatory is yours to explore, to enrich your days through performances, and guide you in studies and music-making of your own. All Oberlin students enjoy access to:

  • More than 500 concerts every year—most of them free
  • Conservatory courses
  • All-campus ensembles
  • Music practice rooms
  • Master classes and residencies
  • Free or discounted tickets to signature events like Oberlin Opera, Music Theater, and the Artist Recital Series, which brings the world’s most accomplished musicians to campus.

All students are welcome to register for conservatory courses in early August, with schedules finalized once you arrive for New Student Orientation.

TO DO THIS WEEK: Now's a great time to get to know all that's available to you in the Conservatory of Music, whether you are an incoming Arts and Sciences or Conservatory student, by browsing the Music Courses and Ensembles website
