Registering for Fall Classes

by Trecia Pottinger, Associate Dean of Academic Advising and Registrar

Welcome to Oberlin! We know you are eager to learn about registering for your first-semester courses. The process differs depending upon your degree.

If you are an Arts & Sciences student, you’ll submit your course preferences in June, and the registrar’s office will register you for two to three courses. If you are a Conservatory of Music student, the conservatory dean’s office will register you for core courses based on your major grid. If you are a double degree student, these two processes will be combined. Regardless of your degree, you will meet with your advisor during New Student Orientation to finalize your course registration.

Please watch for an email later in May with more information on course registration. In the meantime, we invite you to explore the Oberlin College and Conservatory Catalog, where you can learn about degree requirements, academic departments, majors, minors, and integrative concentrations. Oberlin will offer five new opportunities in the fall:

  • A minor in African American Music
  • A minor in Improvisation (for conservatory and double degree students)
  • A minor in Spanish
  • A concentration in Data Science
  • A concentration in Public Humanities

‌Learn About the Office of Student Accessibility Services

by Rebecca Smith, Assistant Dean and Director, Student Accessibility Services

Oberlin recognizes disability as a valued aspect of diversity. The Office of Student Accessibility Services (OSAS) provides resources, education, and direct services to students with disabilities to facilitate a welcoming and inclusive environment. More than 25% of Oberlin students are registered with OSAS, and our office works with students with widely diverse backgrounds and disability experiences.

If you are a student with a disability, please get started with our office by submitting a Request for Accommodations Form. If you’d like to get involved with our office, consider volunteering as a peer note-taker in one of your classes this fall or joining the Executive Functioning Program as a tutor or participant.

We'd love to be in contact with you! Please contact us via phone at 440-775-5588 or via email at osas@oberlin.edu.
