Ready, Set, Oberlin! A week-by-week guide to prepare for your arrival

Issue #3

Course Registration

A professor assisting a student

Oberlin students take courses in a broad range of areas, some of which may be familiar and others that will be new. We know that you are eager to learn about the course registration process for your first semester at Oberlin, and it is important to keep in mind that the initial registration process differs depending on your degree.

The Conservatory Dean’s Office will register Bachelor of Music students for core courses based on their major grid. Bachelor of Arts students will submit course preferences in June, and the Registrar’s Office will register students for two to three courses. The Conservatory Dean’s Office and the Registrar’s Office will combine these processes for Double Degree students. All students will meet with their advisors when they arrive on campus and finalize course registration.

Please watch for an email later in May with more information on the course registration process. This will be sent to your Oberlin email account.

In the meantime, we invite you to explore the Oberlin College and Conservatory Catalog. There, you can learn about degree requirements; academic departments; and majors, minors, and integrative concentrations.
