I feel totally comfortable in Oberlin. I don't worry about homophobia, sexism, or personal security. I can go running at 2AM here, without fearing for my life. I can smile at strangers. I can be myself. Leaving Oberlin means leaving home.

I'm proud to say that I've been able to roll over $1,500 in tuition and buy all my books for each of my first two semesters. Still, paying for an education is a group effort, encompassing students, parents, and colleges.

My goal was to graduate without any lingering "I should have done X, Y and Z!" I (almost) succeeded.

...far more memorable are the friendships and relationships built and established during high school and college.

I graduated from Oberlin just over a week ago, and before they cut off my access to this site, I thought maybe I could list just a few of the many skills I learned at Oberlin.

This week, no matter how it manifests itself, is worth missing sleep.

I've spent the last week preparing to leave Harkness, the co-op where I've lived since my freshman year. So - to alleviate my own nostalgia, as well as give some info to folks who are filling out their housing forms - here's a little bit about Harkness.
