I get up off of Matt's lap, there's guilt and often a little weird silence, and someone will say "Jesus, what was that?"

Having a sense of humor helps a lot when you're sick. So do cartoons and silly puzzle-solving video games.

While I think of Oberlin as an alternate universe Hogwarts much of the time, we don't have owls delivering letters, though that would totally be the coolest.

Travels in Bulgaria, coming home to London. Things I relied on: my phrase book, the kindness of strangers, and painkillers.

Here's my attempt at making an FAQ about undergraduate research. Doing research as an undergraduate has been a big part of my education at Oberlin. I've never been completely sure if I want to pursue science as a career, so doing research has made the idea of a "career in science" less of an abstraction, and I know more about what I like and don't like about the scientific process.

Getting in

A decidedly DIY guest post – if I combined my sheep-to-yarn skills with her yarn-to-clothes skills, we'd be unstoppable.

If you were my friend and came to visit Oberlin, this is what we would do together.

Once dressed, we put on our coats and boots and headed over to Warner--where the Dance Department is housed--looking very classy indeed. My coat looks really good on top of silk with gold accents; that's all I'm saying.

Several people have blogged about their journeys to Oberlin. I've decided to add myself to this ever-growing list. Partly because my journey was not what some of you might expect and partly because I've avoided telling this story in its entirety for far too long.

Let's catch up. I've been shooting lasers, writing calligraphy, and eating fresh fish.

I felt privileged that they were willing to share their stories with me and allow me to observe and participate in their quest of discovery and definition.
