On-Campus Services

Oberlin College Student Health Services offers a wide range of health services to all students, regardless of which health insurance they have.

There is no copay for an appointment, however there may be a small fee for specialized services, lab tests, and medications. Payment is due at the time of service by credit/debit card, or Student Charge. Please make sure to bring your Oberlin College Photo ID with you.

Services

  • Primary care services
  • General Medical Care + Preventive Care Services:

Annual physical exam

  • Pre-participation physical exams for study abroad, sports, camp
  • Immunizations
  • Medication administration
  • Visual acuity examination
  • Referrals to Counseling Center when appropriate
  • Referral to specialists when appropriate

Laboratory:

  • Flu Vaccination and Treatment
  • Select lab tests are available on-site
  • Phlebotomy services provided free of charge
  • Testing that is not performed in-office will be sent to an external lab, and insurance will be billed. It is the student’s responsibility to contact their insurance provider to find out what will and will not be covered.
  • Students who have prescriptions or orders for lab work from an outside provider can have the labs drawn in Student Health, and results will be communicated to the ordering provider.

Acute Care Services:

  • Respiratory issues
  • Common Cold symptoms
  • Sore throat/ Strep throat testing and treatment
  • Influenza testing and treatment when indicated
  • Sinus/ nasal congestion Ear pain/ congestion
  • Seasonal allergies
  • Asthma
  • Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting
  • Urinary problems
  • Skin problems
  • Eye problems
  • Muscle and/or joint pain
  • Minor injuries (sprains/ strains)
  • Abrasions
  • Minor burns/ sunburns
  • Animal bites
  • Splinter removal
  • Point of service testing (COVID, strep, flu, pregnancy, urinalysis)
  • Routine medications will be dispensed, for example, antibiotics, antivirals, and antifungals, as indicated
  • Miscellaneous services (minor injuries, burns, cuts, scrapes)
  • Referrals to specialists, etc. as appropriate

Gynecological Services:

  • Wide range of services offered for students who identify as women + all students who were assigned female at birth.
  • Complete exams when indicated per current guidelines.
  • Pap smears + other health maintenance testing
  • Contraceptive counseling/ management
  • HPV vaccine

Sexual Health: 

  • General sexual health issues
  • Medication for HIV prevention (pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV [PrEP])
  • Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) testing and treatment

 

Fees (effective 8/1/2023)

All fees will be collected at the completion of the student health visit. Payment methods accepted – Visa, Mastercard, or charge to student bursar account.

STI evaluation – No Charge; additional lab fees billed to health insurance

Suture Removal – No Charge

Rapid Strep Test - $5.00

Medications Dispensed from Student Health Center

A limited supply of antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals, and steroids is available for $10 per prescription, or a prescription will be provided.
