You can plan to begin your Oberlin transition during the summer as our Orientation Program will include a range of remote activities in early-mid August. Our goal is to provide essential information and connect you with members of our community who will help you make a successful academic and social transition.

Our Goals for You During Orientation

  • Introduce you to your PAL (Peer Advising Leader), RA (Residential Assistant), and other new students

  • Familiarize you with essential policies and helpful resources

  • Learn what the residential experience and living in a community at Oberlin College means

  • Connect you with your academic advisor, register for class, and develop a strong academic foundation

  • Experience our vibrant campus life including a vast range of musical events, student organization activities, and more

  • Engage with the communities and partners that surround Oberlin College

Orientation Schedule

The Full New Student Orientation Schedule will be posted during the summer. Please see the following overview of the week:

  • Sunday, August 25th - Move-In and Welcome, Residential Community Meetings
  • Monday, August 26th - Academic and Community Resource Fair, PAL Sessions, Welcome Photo
  • Tuesday, August 27th - Academic Advising, Academic Preparations, PAL Sessions
  • Wednesday, August 28th - "Connect Cleveland" Experiential Learning Trip

International Students

International Student Orientation Program begins with international student move-in on Thursday, August 22, 2024. All new F-1 and J-1 students are expected to attend and arrive on campus on that date. You may check in to your housing at any time on that day (including after normal business hours). Dual-citizens, permanent residents, US citizens living abroad, and other non-F-1 or J-1 visa holders are welcome to email isss@oberlin.edu to request to attend.
