Al Evangelista Presented at Dance Studies Association Annual Conference
October 12, 2022
Assistant Professor of Dance Al Evangelista participated and presented in two panels at the Dance Studies Association annual conference. The two panels titled, “Dancing in the Aftermath of Anti-Asian Hate” and “Acts of Tribute, Practices of Citation: Recognition as Resistance to Cultures of Individualism” took place October 13-16 in Vancouver, BC. On the panels, he discussed upcoming publications including one on dance and bystander intervention training.
Cynthia Taylor and Steve Balady Paper Published in "Computer Science Education"

Associate Professor of Computer Science Cynthia Taylor published a paper with Visiting Assistant Professor of Math Steve Balady (now at CSU San Bernardino) in the journal Computer Science Education. The paper looks at how student attitudes in introductory Computer Science and Math courses align with those of experts.

Jane Sedlak ’19 Studies the Chemistry of Wildfire Smoke

Jane Sedlak graduated from Oberlin College in 2019 with a degree in chemistry and was named the winner of Oberlin’s Nexial Prize. Given to a student who demonstrates academic excellence and an interest in cultural study, the Nexial Prize comes with a $50,000 award, which afforded Sedlak the opportunity following graduation to study art conservation at the Louvre in Paris. She is currently a graduate student at University of California San Diego.
