Additional Benefits for Retirees

Faculty

• Email account: If you have Emeritus status, your college email account will continue to be active.
• Retiree ID: You may apply for a retiree ID for access to the library, gym, etc. Application forms are available in Human Resources.
• You may also apply for a parking sticker from the Safety and Security office.

Emeritus Status

Tenured faculty retiring from the College and not seeking active service at any other academic institution may be considered for emeritus faculty status by the divisional councils.

Emeritus faculty are encouraged to continue playing an active role in their academic discipline, in their department, and in the intellectual life of the College generally. Emeritus faculty are frequently called upon to teach courses on an adjunct basis and sponsor Winter Term projects.  To foster this continued role and an on-going relationship with Oberlin College, Emeritus faculty will:

• continue to be members of their academic departments and will be listed as such in the departmental website, etc.;  
• continue having the right to attend faculty meetings and other activities as before retirement, but without the right to vote;
• remain on all mailing lists that contain information of general interest to faculty members, unless they specifically request that their name be omitted from such lists;
• be able to serve as the principal investigator on grants and can supervise students with approval from the respective department head;
• have access to electronic mail and networking through the College;
• retain full access to library facilities, including borrowing rights and interlibrary loan privileges;
• continue to have privileges at the College’s recreational facilities.  

All Other Staff

• Your Oberlin College email account will be canceled upon your retirement date.
• You may apply for a retiree ID for access to the library, gym, etc. Applications are available in Human Resources
• You may also apply for a parking sticker from the Safety and Security office.
