Issue 7: Course Registration
Time to Think About Course Registration
At Oberlin, you’ll take courses in a broad range of subjects, some of which may be familiar to you and others that will be entirely new. As you prepare to register for your first semester of courses with us, keep in mind that the initial registration process differs depending on whether you’re a student in the college or conservatory.
If you’re a student in the conservatory, the Conservatory Dean's Office will register you in core courses based on your major grid and placement test results.
If you’re a student in the college, you will submit preferences for a First-Year Seminar in May, and the Registrar’s Office will register you for one of these introductory courses later in the summer.
If you’re a double-degree student in both the college and conservatory, you will combine both processes described above.
During the summer, you’ll learn more about course offerings, participate in academic advising sessions, and register for additional courses in early August. When you arrive on campus, you’ll meet with your academic advisor(s) to finalize your schedule.
TO DO THIS WEEK: Conservatory students should complete required placement tests, and College students should submit first-year seminar options and complete placement tests.
Please watch for additional emails from the AARC of the Conservatory Dean's Office with more information on the course registration process. This will be sent to your Oberlin email account
