I headed to a small coffee shop and discovered that it really is an Obie world after all.

Sure, there are a few bloodthirsty, ambitious climbers at Oberlin, and a few deadbeats content to coast on their parents' funds, but the majority have found a healthy middle path.

We are aware of the general educational system in China and have tried to look at the whole picture of all of the students that apply.

It can't rain ALL the time, you're thinking, and that's quite true. It snows or hails by way of variety.

I love being a tour guide. The job is to share what you love while walking backwards, connecting with people from across the country and the world. What's more rewarding than that?

Diversity is not the result of any one or two students that we have at Oberlin, but rather the result of the integration of the unique perspectives of all of the students that we have on campus.

Sometimes, when I have just a bit of extra time on my hands, I take out my camera and see what interesting sights I can capture.

These aren't secrets to getting into your dream college, I apologize. I don't think there is a formula for that. What I'm offering in the following post is an approach to making your application a solid representation of yourself.

Keeping in the vein of keeping my blog Oberlin-centric, even if I'm a few thousand miles removed, I'm going to do a run down of local food things I like to play with, in Oberlin industrial kitchens and Hawaiian home kitchens. Kitchens are my playgrounds, but with infinitely more sharp objects and dangerous things the average kid shouldn't play with.

Think of it as essentially this blog (more long-form stories, anecdotes, photos), but with a slightly different focus. Now that I have graduated from my dear alma mater, I figured it was time to branch out a little on my own.

Or, why we've all been too busy to blog lately.

I have a habit of picking up library books that look interesting, checking them out, bringing them home, and letting them sit around for months on end.
