Research in the Skinner Lab

Research interests include the simulation of organic and enzymatic mechanisms.

Hydrogenases are a class of enzymes that perform the reversible oxidation of molecular hydrogen (H2). Our group seeks to understand the mechanisms of this class of enzymes using small quantum chemical models to perform thermodynamic analyses and reaction pathway simulations. Hydrogenases are of interest due to their applications in fuel cells and coupling to redox deficient processes, such as CO2 reduction and water splitting.
