Black History Celebration: February 7 through March 10

Oberlin’s 2013 black history celebration, Black Arts, revisited, reminds us of the power of the arts throughout history to increase awareness and understanding, to honor innovation and talent, and to bring disparate people and cultures together when institutions, beliefs, traditions, and public policies cannot. Featured speakers and performers include soprano Adrienne Danrich, Duke University Professor Fred Moten, performance artist Aisha Cousins, and writer Marlene NourbeSe Philip.

Jim Margolis '78 To Give Free, Public Talk

Jim Margolis has worked for years at the intersection of politics, advertising, and advocacy on behalf of candidates, foundations, government agencies, and corporate clients. He led advertising efforts for Barack Obama as part of his core strategic team.

Members of Apollo's Fire and Oberlin Conservatory present music by Bach and Haydn for Family Promise of Lorain County

On Sunday, February 17 at 3 p.m., musicians from the widely acclaimed Apollo’s Fire Baroque Orchestra and Oberlin Conservatory of Music will perform in a concert to benefit homeless families served by Family Promise of Lorain County. The concert will be held at First Church in Oberlin and donations are welcome.
