Joseph N. Palmieri, emeritus professor of physics, died Thursday, June 21, 2018. He was 85 years old.

Professor of History Clayton Koppes was awarded the Distinguished Achievement Award which recognizes character and citizenship, achievement in a chosen profession or vocation, and work of benefit to humanity.

Chief Investment Officer Jainen Thayer has accepted an offer to serve as the chief investment officer at Grinnell College. He will continue in his current position at Oberlin College until the end of August and he will assume his new role at Grinnell in mid-September.

The college’s Ultimate teams both qualified for the National D-III College Championships that will be held on May 19 and 20 in Rockford, Illinois.

Designed by library staff members Ed Vermue and Runxiao Zhu and curated by students in the course East Asian Book Cultures, an exhibit about East Asian book technologies and formats was recently showcased in the main library.

The Oberlin community is invited to attend a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Fairchild Chapel in Bosworth Hall.

The Office of Undergraduate Research invites all members of the campus and community to celebrate the scholarly and artistic achievements of members of the Class of 2018, at the ninth annual Senior Symposium on Friday, April 27.

On April 26, Oberlin College is looking for 1,500 donors from the Oberlin community to go “All In” for Oberlin. For this fundraising challenge, Chris Canavan ’84 promises to match every donation with an additional $100.
