Environmental Health and Safety Projects

Oberlin College is committed to providing a safe and healthy campus environment. The health and safety of all faculty, staff, and students, the visiting public, and members of the neighboring community is among its highest priorities. In support of its commitment, the college has established an Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) which works with the Facilities Operations Division and the Facilities Planning and Construction (FP&C) area to implement environmental and occupational health and safety programs to ensure compliance with all relevant governmental laws and regulations.

Current Involvement

  • Contractor Identification Badges
    The Office of Environmental Health and Safety, Facilities Planning and Construction, Facilities Operations and Security are working in unison to develop and implement an identification and badge program. This program will be in place primarily to help in the identification of contractors when performing work on campus.

  • Ohio Five Colleges–Sustainability Initiatives
    The Environmental, Health and Safety Managers of the Ohio 5 Colleges are presenting information on sustainability initiatives at Ohio Wesleyan on November 11, 2009. Oberlin College will be represented by Claudia Ferrini.

  • Confined Space Entry and Retrieval System
    The Environmental Health and Safety department is working with CHP in the purchase and installation of capital equipment to enable CHP engineers to access Coal Bins for maintenance. A structural engineer is involved with the process to provide installation specifications.
