Oberlin Blogs

Maja S. ’26

Hello! My name is Maja and I'm in my final year at Oberlin. Originally, I come from Macedonia, a tiny country in Eastern Europe, so Ohio has definitely been an adventure for me. I have to admit, though, this adventure has surprised me so much that I now enjoy even the flat plains surrounding us.

I love traveling and enjoy learning languages, so as a combined interest, I do a lot of exchange and abroad programs, including being here in Ohio for college! I've combined these interests in a Communication and Hispanic Studies double major with an Anthropology minor and an Education Studies Integrative Concentration.

On campus, if I'm not in class or a meeting, I am working at the Cat in the Cream -- my favorite coffeehouse around campus. There, I get to hear jazz live multiple times a week, often play trivia games (although they're not my strength), and make the most delicious chocolate chip oatmeal cookies you have to try if you haven't already.

The reason why I came across the ocean to Oberlin in the first place was because of these blogs, so I hope you enjoy my stories and get excited for those chocolate chip oatmeal cookies!
