Oberlin Blogs

Evan H. ’26

Hello there! I came to Oberlin from a suburb of beautiful Portland, Oregon. I found a second home here during my first year, and now am a senior--how time flies! I'm a double major in creative writing and biology with a minor in Spanish (you may find me eating at El Rincón Latino, the Spanish Lunch Corner, in Stevenson Dining Hall!).

Outside of academics, I'm a Peer Advising Leader,  a campus tour guide, a board member for the Oswing and Blues society, and a singer in Oberlin's all-gender, all-genre a capella group Pitch Please! I'm currently working on my first novel and so far have written around 100,000 words. I’m the co-designer of the role-playing game Alterra: Age of Exploration, and enjoy playing tabletop and Nintendo games in my spare time.

I live with three fellow creative writing majors in a suite in Woodland Hall, but if I'm not there, you'll most often find me studying in the Terrell Library's fourth floor, or the Science Atrium. Feel free to say hi if you see me around campus, as I'd love to talk and answer questions about Oberlin.
