The Oberlin Young Composers Workshop is a weeklong intensive program for high school composers, aged 15 years and older, held on the campus of Oberlin College, from June 23 through June 30. Participants will have the opportunity to write a new piece in collaboration with Oberlin Conservatory musicians. Activities include daily workshops of student compositions, seminars on various related topics, private lessons with Oberlin composition faculty Elizabeth Ogonek and Jesse Jones, and performances of newly composed works. All sessions will be recorded, and all composers will have access to studio space, computer labs, and recording facilities for the duration of the program.

Participants will improve their skills with notation software and learn how to professionally present their scores and parts. In addition, each participant will create a new composition and will gain experience collaborating with resident performers.

The Young Composers Workshop is open to all high school composers who have not yet reached their senior year and who are interested in pursuing composition in college.
