The Internal Communications team seeks engage the campus community in the life of the college. We share detailed, timely information so the internal campus community may take advantage of the wide array of events and services the college offers.
We strive to balance need-to-know announcements with insightful and engaging content that explores the achievements of our community or illuminates issues in society that impact higher education.
The Internal Communications team is responsible for creating content for the Campus News web page, for maintaining user-generated web pages like the Oberlin OnCampus Classifieds , and for assisting in the creation and scheduling of digital banners, which are advertisements displayed on large flat-screen monitors installed throughout campus.
The Campus Digest
The Campus Digest is an html-based, customizable email that’s sent to faculty, staff, and students from Monday through Friday. It serves as Oberlin’s primary internal communications channel.
Departments and groups can submit information for publication in the daily Campus Digest by using this online submission form .
Individuals in administrative offices who have been designated as their office’s official Campus Digest content editor can also submit information directly for publication by logging in to their profile on the Oberlin College website.
Anyone on campus may submit an item for publication, provided that its intended audience is that of the campus community, and that the content of the message is not being used for personal or financial gain. Content that does not fall within the mission and guidelines of the institution is subject to removal.
The Office of Communication’s launched this new platformin fall 2018 to improve communications within the campus community.
Mass emails, also known as email blasts or all-campus emails, are messages sent to all faculty, staff, students, or combinations of those groups, are not permitted except in the case of a critical communications need (e.g., compliance, legal, emergency).
All-campus communications are managed through the Campus Digest tool.
Individual access to campus email lists (studentlist, facultylist, stafflist, etc.) is being phased out. This includes office announcements, event emails, and other related communications.
