Undergraduate Research
Mentored research opportunities with Biology Faculty
Students typically begin research during fall, Winter Term/spring, or summer. To facilitate pairing of students with available research positions, students should fill out a research interest form during the preceding term. The form for fall 2026 should be available towards the end of the spring semester.
Faculty will review submissions during the month following the term’s deadline for full consideration. Faculty will contact students to meet and discuss potential research projects, and selection will be by mutual agreement of individual student/faculty pairs. We expect that the demand will exceed supply, so the application itself, and a meeting with a faculty member, is not a guarantee of a spot in a lab. Even if you aren't selected during the initial placement of applicants you will remain in the pool in the event a spot opens up later this cycle and, we encourage you to apply again in the future.

Course-based undergraduate research experiences
Students may also gain authentic research experience through courses with the Undergraduate Research Intensive designation through our many offerings including both core BIOL 211 and BIOL 224 labs and numerous upper-level laboratory courses in various areas of biology.
