Summer on the Cuyahoga
Oberlin College has joined Summer on the Cuyahoga (SOTC), one of Northeast Ohio’s Premier Internship programs.
As part of this program, up to 80 undergraduates or recent graduates from Oberlin, CWRU, Colgate, Cornell, Denison, Ohio Wesleyan, Smith, and University of Chicago participate in paid summer internships. Other participating institutions include: Case Western Reserve University, Colgate University, Cornell University, Denison University, Ohio Wesleyan University, Smith College and the University of Chicago.
The program brings together 50-70 interns for an intensive summer immersion program design to help interns explore the professional, civic and social offerings of the Cleveland area. In partnership with employers and community leaders, the program showcases the region's abundant opportunities to the student cohort. In addition to providing students with a great internship experience, the program aims to attract talented graduates to Northeast Ohio and help them consider it as a place to live and work after graduation.
Provide short-term housing for interns (Homestay)
Provide temporary housing to SOTC Oberlin inters at the beginning and/or end of the SOTC program. Students stay in Cleveland State University resident halls for most of the summer. However, some internships are longer than the period the resident halls are available. Housing needs would be in May and August.
Mentor an Intern (Alumni Host)
Match with a SOTC Oberlin intern to serve as a professional mentor and connection to the Cleveland community. Attend SOTC opening and closing ceremonies and other events open to hosts. Meet with your intern occasionally of the summer for coffee, lunch or even a home cooked meal.
Host an event for SOTC Oberlin Interns
Host a causal cookout or other event at your home or a discussion about your career/industry, graduate school experience, etc.
