Transfer of Credit
Incoming first-year and transfer students may receive credit toward graduation provided their prior coursework meets Oberlin’s academic requirements.
Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Exams
Subject to department policies, credit may be awarded for the successful completion of College Board Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams.
See the AP/IB Scores & Credit chart for details on the exams and scores accepted for credit.
International Entrance Exams
Oberlin degree credit is possible, depending on departmental and registrar approval, for widely recognized International Entrance Exams, such as the British System A-Levels and the French Baccalaureate. See How to get Oberlin Credit for International Entrance Exams.
Liberal Arts College Courses
Successfully completed liberal arts courses taken at a college while enrolled in high school are eligible to earn credits, provided the courses appear on a transcript from an accredited college or university. Students should send transcripts to the Office of the Registrar. See How to send transfer work to Oberlin.
Work transferred to Oberlin may be counted toward the degree, within the overall limit of five full academic courses (or their equivalent) prior to matriculation and three full academic courses (or their equivalent) after matriculation. However, transferred work will not count toward general degree requirements, such as the curriculum exploration requirement or the cultural diversity requirement. Please note that the limits differ for students who transfer to Oberlin. Please refer to the Office of the Registrar transfer of credit policies for specific limits for transfer students.
