OUR Research Ambassador

Susan Robinson-Cloete (she/they) is a fourth-year Neuroscience major and Chemistry and Writing and Communications Minor with an Integrative Concentration in Global Health. At Oberlin, she has been a student researcher in a neuroscience lab since the fall of 2021 and is also a Writing Associate at the Writing Center. They also play on Oberlin's Field Hockey team. In their free time, they enjoy hiking, reading, and spending time with friends. Susan is excited to help increase the visibility of research opportunities on campus and connect students to what they are passionate about.

Cecil Pulley

OUR Research Ambassador

Cecil Pulley (He/they) is a double major in Art History and GSFS currently researching the art, life, and legacy of Keith Haring through the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Research Fellowship. He is passionate about Oberlin’s many research opportunities, having completed two summers of the Oberlin Summer Research Institute and an art history research Winter Term, and currently is pursuing an Art History honors project. Outside of research Cecil is a Bonner Scholar, a member of WOBC and Oburlesque, and a drag performer.

My Trinh

OUR Research Ambassador

My Trinh (she/her) is a 3rd year student studying Biology and Biochemistry. My is very enthusiastic about plant development and evolution, and she plans on pursuing a graduate degree in botany where developmental, molecular biology and systematics intersect. At Oberlin, My is working on her thesis studying the evolution in the breeding system of the Hawaiian endemic plant genus Schiedea. My was also an intern at Harvard University, where she investigate the evolution of wood in the Macaronesian Echium. In her free time, My enjoys gardening, painting, and playing the guitar. She is excited to help others starting their research. 

 

Amélie Fournier

OUR Research Ambassador

Amélie Fournier (she/they) is a third-year History and Africana Studies major and Politics minor with an International Affairs concentration. She is passionate about East African Political Economy, and is conducting research about the historical impacts of socialism in Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo through the Mellon Mays Fellowship. Outside of research, she is involved with the Sisters of the Yam as the historian and treasurer, and is a History major representative. In their free time, Amélie enjoys reading, going to the museum, and lifting weights. She is excited to help other students along their research journeys.

 

Tanisha Shende

OUR Research Ambassador

Tanisha Shende (she/her) is a second year student studying mathematics, computer science, sociology, and art history. During her first year, she conducted computational astrophysics research on galaxy metallicity under Professor Jillian Scudder. Currently, she is a researcher at Cornell University in the Enhancing Ability Lab, where she investigates ways to make virtual reality more accessible to disabled people. Most recently, her research proposal on an AI model that can describe and interpret artwork has been accepted for publication and presentation at an artificial intelligence conference. In her free time, Tanisha enjoys literature, film, and writing. As a Research Ambassador, she hopes to uncover and mitigate barriers to research faced by Oberlin students.
