The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) at Oberlin College
The NSLS is the largest and only accredited leadership honor society in the United States. Our new, local chapter is part of this national organization with more than 700 chapters and over 1.5 million existing members.
We have officially invited our first inaugural class of students to begin our chapter and we look forward to the opportunities it will provide to students.
Spring 2023 NSLS Events
Orientation
September 18th, 6:00-7:00 pm- Lewis Center 201
September 22nd, 4:30-5:30 pm- Moffett Auditorium
Orientation is the first event on campus for new members. During orientation you’ll get a chance to meet other members, learn the steps you need to take to complete the program, and review the schedule of events for the semester.
Leadership Training Day
September 25th, 6:00-7:00 pm- Moffett Auditorium
September 29th, 4:30-5:30 pm- Moffett Auditorium
On leadership training day, you will attend an interactive video training session where you'll identify goals and work on a plan of action to achieve them. During this session, you’ll learn various leadership skills, recognize your strengths and weaknesses, and create a path for overcoming obstacles.
Speaker Broadcasts and Success Networking Teams
October 24th, 7:00-8:00 pm- Moffett Auditorium
November 8th, 7:00-8:00 pm- Moffett Auditorium
November 14th, 7:00-8:00 pm- Moffett Auditorium
Students will attend broadcasts from business leaders, celebrities, activists, best-selling authors, and more. Along with their fellow members they will discuss topics presented by the speaker and then meet with the Success Networking Teams to work on their own leadership goals and progress. Each week they'll come back together with their teams to support one another along their journeys with the NSLS.
Induction!
Once students have completed all of the requirements, they will be invited to an induction ceremony with all of their fellow members to celebrate their accomplishments and join the first inaugural class of the Oberlin chapter of the NSLS.

What do I have to do to become inducted?
The Steps to Induction take approximately 9-10 hours over the course of the semester and you can complete it at your own pace.
Can I receive financial support for membership fees?
If you have received an invitation to the NSLS and need financial assistance to join, you can reach out to Director of Student Leadership, Jess Gorgas at jgorgas@oberlin.edu.
Is this recognized on campus?
The NSLS is a recognized partner of Oberlin College and Conversatory and we are working together to provide students with leadership development opportunities. Student members in our chapter will join more than 1.5 million members nationwide.
