Student Cars on Campus
If you plan to bring a car to campus, please be aware of the Campus Safety regulations regarding registration and parking.
Students must park in designated parking lots and should not expect that cars can be parked on the street or public areas of our neighboring communities. Oberlin College works with our neighbors to reduce traffic flow and parking in nearby off-campus neighborhoods, and we ask students to help Oberlin College be a good neighbor.
Student Parking
Students who park their vehicles on college property must register their vehicles with Campus Safety. The student fee per academic year is $200 and must be paid at the time you register at the college. Once you register, you’ll receive a parking pass that will allow you to park in specific lots on campus. You’ll be assigned a lot based in part on your class year and on-campus housing location.
Visitor Parking
Visitors to campus must acquire a temporary parking pass from Campus Safety in order to park on campus in the visitor spaces.
Public Parking
The Oberlin business district is intended for patrons of downtown businesses. The city enforces a two-hour parking limit. Residential street parking is limited to 48 hours. Enforcement includes penalties of citations up to towing at owner expense. From November 1 until April 1 each year, a snow ban is in effect and parking on streets is prohibited between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Be aware of city ordinances .
Electric Vehicle Charging
Students, staff, and community members with electric vehicles and hybrid plug-ins can charge their cars on campus. Chargers are located in the parking lot on the south side of Woodland Hall and are available 24 hours a day. More information on the charging policy and pricing can be found on the Office of Energy and Sustainability website. There are also other charging stations located in the city. These include locations outside the public library, city hall, the elementary school, behind Slow Train, and behind McDonald’s.
