Latinx Heritage Month, celebrated mid-September through early November, brings Latinx-identifying people and those from other small campus communities together to share experiences and create ongoing dialogues.

Yeworkwha Belachew (YB) has been a pillar of this community for the past 35 years. In October, we honored her by renaming the OCDC as the Yeworkwha Belachew Center for Dialogue at Oberlin College. We honor her today by creating a new staff award that will bear her name.

Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to identify and/or develop courses, speakers, creative work, workshops, performances, and other events that address The Framing of Race, the 2016 theme of the new Think/Create/Engage series.

I am deeply saddened by the news that Nancy Dye, Oberlin’s 13th president, has passed away. Nancy had a profound, positive effect on Oberlin College and Conservatory, building our international engagement and profile, stabilizing and strengthening our finances, and expanding our curriculum.
