Board of Trustees Update

Clyde S. McGregor

The board’s first meeting of the new academic year took place on campus October 6 and 7. The board welcomed five new trustees, who will undertake an orientation program through which they gain knowledge about the issues facing the college. As I noted previously, we expect the presidential search to be the board’s most important work in this academic year. The search committee website will soon be established and this will keep the community apprised of the search progress.

Homecoming a Success; A Landmark Environmental Conference

Marvin Krislov

An array of academic, musical, artistic, and athletic events, which only Oberlin could offer, made Homecoming a great success. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make the weekend a hit. I am also very much looking forward to the second weekend in October when Oberlin will host a landmark environmental conference, “After Fossil Fuels: The Next Economy.” The conference will bring together some of the most innovative and influential thinkers in the world with key elected officials who have a solid and active track record on climate change issues.
