An Acoustic Evening with Yo La Tengo Featuring Dave Schramm

Indie rock trio Yo La Tengo will perform an acoustic show with special guest Dave Schramm at 8 p.m. Sunday, September 11, in Finney Chapel.
Fresh off celebrating their 30th anniversary, Yo La Tengo released Stuff Like That There in 2015 on Matador Records. The trio of Ira Kaplan, Georgia Hubley, and James McNew returned as a quartet, reuniting with former member Dave Schramm (electric guitar), to revisit their beloved Fakebook concept: a mix of cover songs, “covers” of Yo La Tengo songs, and brand-new originals, 25 years after its introduction.
This rare live set-up—Schramm on electric guitar, Kaplan on acoustic guitar, Hubley on a small kit, and McNew on upright bass—marks the first occasion of this configuration of Yo La Tengo on tour together. And, since it took them 31 years to get around to doing so, it could very well be the last.
Tickets are $18 for the general public and $8 for seniors and Oberlin College students, faculty, and staff.

This Week in Photos: The Mug That Keeps Giving
Dozens of handcrafted mugs of varying shapes, shades, and textures rest on tables throughout a large meeting space at First Church in Oberlin. These small, handheld items make for terrific gifts, and are traditionally sold in December. They also serve as inspiration for this week’s photo series.
