Hannah Stone is an awardee of the Dolores '54 and Donald '57 White Prize.
This program is imagined as an opportunity to convene with nature and reconsider our perspectives on relating to the natural world and each other. It interleaves the abstract; improvised dance and sound, with composed works and the focused, persuasive writings. Much of the music is in song form, where the lyrics provide interpretive guidance, or otherwise sonic meditations, inviting participation by the audience as a moving and active recipient/creator of the sound. This program aims to create belonging on many levels -- belonging of the audience in the concert environment through participation, belonging of women, folk artists, and improvisers in conservatory performance and higher education, and belonging of humans among nature.
