Keyboard studies encompasses areas of study related to the organ and piano. Focused study, along with exposure to a range of music literature, superb facilities, private instruction, and many performance opportunities provide students with an enriching educational experience.

Overview

The Division of Keyboard Studies offers the major in organ and piano.  

Oberlin Conservatory’s especially strong keyboard faculty, many opportunities to perform, superb facilities, and an active schedule of master classes and residencies by visiting artists are the components that make an Oberlin education exceptional for piano majors.

The organ program is designed to help students develop excellence in performance and an understanding of a broad range of repertoire. Long recognized as one of the world’s leading centers for organ instruction, Oberlin Conservatory has graduated musicians who have become professors of music, church musicians, university organists and scholars, and winners of national and international awards.

Pianist Jiongli Wang to Perform with Oberlin Chamber Orchestra

On Friday, May 3, the Oberlin Chamber Orchestra performs a program that will showcase Concerto Competition winner Jiongli Wang in Frédéric Chopin’s First Piano Concerto, as well as fourth-year composition student Cashel Day-Lewis in the premiere of his Black River Prelude commissioned by Oberlin Conservatory in honor of the Lorain County Bicentennial.

Fairchild Chapel

The centerpiece of Bosworth Hall is Fairchild Chapel, a 150-seat facility that features a pipe organ based on building principles of the early 17th century.

The Kulas Organ Center has 13 practice rooms that are equipped with organs of various designs, both mechanical action and electro-pneumatic.
