Audition Day Schedule

Students are encouraged to review the schedules below and if possible plan to be on campus the day before their scheduled audition to make the most of the offered events.

Audition Schedules for February 2024 are tentatively* listed below.  Jazz Studies and TIMARA applicants please refer to this schedule as well as the events listed below for additional department specific events. 

Auditioning students can attend any event, any day, but are encouraged to attend the evening welcome and reception the day prior to their audition. 

Friday - February 9 and February 16

  • 3:00pm - Audition Registration Begins
  • 6:30pm - Welcome with President Carmen Twillie Ambar 
  • 7:00pm - Faculty and Student Reception
    • opportunity to meet current students and faculty from all areas for conversation in an informal setting
  • 8:00pm - Danenberg Honors Recital 
    • showcase of Oberlin students across various performance areas

Saturday - February 10 and February 17

  • 8:30am - Audition/Interview Registration Begins
  • 8:40am - Organ Prelude
  • 9:00am - Coffee and Welcome with the Dean 
  • 9:30am - Auditions/Interviews Begin
  • 9:30am - Financial Aid Panel 
  • 10:30am - College Campus Tour or Conservatory Tour
  • 1:00pm - Percussion Faculty Recital featuring TIMARA and Cinema Studies student collaborators
  • 1:15pm - Small Ensembles Performance 
  • 2:30pm - Student Experience Panel
  • 3:30pm - College Campus Tour or Conservatory Tour
  • 6:00pm - Welcome with President Carmen Twillie Ambar and Musical Performance by Oberlin students 
  • 7:00pm - Faculty and Student Reception 
    • opportunity to meet current students and faculty from all areas for conversation in an informal setting
  •   7:30pm - *February 10 only* Artist Recital Series Concert
    • Trey McLaughlin & The Sounds of Zamar 

Sunday - February 11 and February 18 

  • 8:30am - Audition/Interview Registration Begins

  • 11:00am - Conservatory Tour for Jazz Studies applicants
  • 11:45am - Jazz Studies Audition Registration Begins
  • 12:00pm - Welcome and Audition Overview
  • 12:15 - Jazz Forum and Lunch
  • 2:00pm - Jazz Studies Auditions Begin
  • 4:30pm - Oberlin Jazz Ensemble (OJE) rehearsal

Saturday - February 17

  • 10:00am - Jazz Studies Auditions Begin

TIMARA students are welcome to attend all events listed above as well the TIMARA specific events below. 

Fridays - February 9 and February 16

  • 5:30pm - Q&A with faculty and tour of TIMARA studios followed by dinner with TIMARA students
