Office of Religious and Spiritual Life

Office of Religious and Spiritual Life Staff

The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life has three staff members and relationships with local and regional clergy.

The Rev. Dr. David F. H. Dorsey is the multifaith chaplain and director of the Office of Religious & Spiritual Life at Oberlin College. He is the creator of Barefoot Dialogue, a sustained dialogue program in its ninth year.

Maysan Haydar is the Multifaith Coordinator at Oberlin College. Her work serves to cultivate religious life for the multiplicity of faiths and traditions on campus. In addition to connecting students to local clergy, she facilitates access to holiday observances, rituals, and practices for multifaith, minority religion, humanist, and "spiritual not religious" students.

Jaris Owens (OC '20) is the Sustained Dialogue Coordinator for 2021-2022. In his time at Oberlin, Jaris participated in Barefoot Dialogue, gained training in conflict mediation by the Yeworkha Belachew Center for Dialogue (YBCD), and served as a small group facilitator in classroom settings for the YBCD. In these spaces, he developed a fire for social justice, a love for vulnerability, and a passion for connecting with others.
