Oberlin to launch Internship+ Commitment for students entering in fall 2022
November 5, 2021
Office of Communications
Beginning with students entering in fall 2022, Oberlin will offer each student up to $5,000 in financial support for a qualified summer opportunity, including internships, research- and performance-based experiences, and other pre-professional activities. This will allow each student to pursue their perfect summer internship, professional development, or research opportunity to help them launch their career.
This commitment came out of a recommendation in the One Oberlin report to guarantee funding for one high-quality internship per student, and is among a number of initiatives that have come from the One Oberlin report in the area of career preparation.
To maximize the value of this internship, participating students will also take part in programming coordinated by the Career Development Center and the Conservatory Office of Professional Development. This will prepare students for experiential learning opportunities through staff- and faculty-led workshops, a career summit, and alumni career panels. Students may elect to use the full amount in the summer following their junior year, or divide the funds between their sophomore and junior summers, and will present a clearly defined experiential learning plan, including an itemized budget.
