Meet the 2022 Student Commencement Speaker

On Sunday, June 5, Oberlin College will celebrate the Class of 2022 with a Commencement ceremony on Tappan Square beginning at 9:30 a.m. Cyril Amanfo ’22, a neuroscience and theater major, was selected by the Commencement Class Speaker Search Committee to address the graduating class. A livestream of the events will be available on the commencement page.

 

Cyril Amanfo ’22

Cyril Amanfo is a neuroscience and theater major from Lowell, Massachusetts, who matriculated at Oberlin from St. Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire. During his time at Oberlin, he has been engaged in a multitude of groups and organizations, including the African Students Association, Office of Admissions, Oberlin Gospel Choir, Pitch Please A Capella, Oberlin Student Theater Association, HHMI Student Leadership Committee, and others. Some of Amanfo’s most memorable experiences during his time at Oberlin include writing and performing in Olympus, Oberlin Theater's first student-written MainStage production, singing onstage with The Blackberry Poets, directing numerous productions, and “most importantly,” being present with his friends and found family at Oberlin. Amanfo is grateful for everyone who has crossed his path at Oberlin, and thanks them all profusely for the time they have spent with him. He wishes his sincere congratulations to the graduates of 2022, and is proud to take the stage alongside this incredible class.
