Big Parade and Folkfest

Oberlin community residents of all ages will gather on Saturday, May 3 for the 13th annual Big Parade. Beginning at noon at Prospect Elementary School, the parade will travel down West College Street to Tappan Square.
A festival with food, crafts, music, and more will take place in Tappan Square until 4 p.m. The 16th annual Oberlin Folkfest will also happen on Saturday with student and local acts performing from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the Clark Bandstand.

This Week in Photos: Beautiful
It’s Saturday night in March and there’s a pulsating glow spilling from the windows of the Root Room in Carnegie Building. Inside, rows of spectators line the perimeter of a long narrow stage. Oberlin’s most anticipated fashion show begins as cheers swell when models, draped in creative attire, take their turn down the walk. This is a signature event during Black History Month. It also serves as inspiration for this week’s photo series.
Community Mural Project Highlights Aspects of Oberlin
More than 100 town and college members picked up artists' brushes and applied their painting skills to a 32-foot mural in Carpenter Court late last month during Community Paint Day. The result is an expressive collage that the organizer of the project hopes will fill passersby with Oberlin pride.
