More than 390 families registered for Parent and Family Weekend this fall. The event opened with an reception in the Science Center commons sponsored by the conservatory dean, Arts and Sciences dean, and other staff members. Attendees enjoyed a student jazz trio. Highlights of this year’s weekend included faculty lectures, a student dance show, swing dancing, and class visits. More than 840 people registered for the continental breakfast hosted by President Carmen Twillie Ambar, which concluded the weekend's activities.

This Week in Photos: Beautiful

March 31, 2022

It’s Saturday night in March and there’s a pulsating glow spilling from the windows of the Root Room in Carnegie Building. Inside, rows of spectators line the perimeter of a long narrow stage. Oberlin’s most anticipated fashion show begins as cheers swell when models, draped in creative attire, take their turn down the walk. This is a signature event during Black History Month. It also serves as inspiration for this week’s photo series.

A student takes a few steps on a ladder and stretches one arm to the top of a large glowing menorah in the center of Tappan Square. The gold branched candelabra and flames glisten against the night sky, and those surrounding it look up at its brilliance. This Oberlin community gathering, in celebration of the last night of Hanukkah, leads off this week’s photo series.
