Music is central to the Oberlin experience. The Musical Studies Program targets arts and sciences students with serious preparation for and interest in the study of music within a liberal arts context. The program emphasizes critical thinking, writing, and communications skills, grounded in practical musical experience.

Arts and Sciences Orchestra
Oberlin sponsors approximately 500 concerts on campus each year, including recitals and concerts by the more than 25 student ensembles, including the Arts and Sciences Orchestra led by Phillip Highfill. Music studies majors are eligible to perform with a student ensemble to add to their musical experience and enrich their course of study.
