Alumni Association
Oberlin Alumni Association of African Ancestry
The Oberlin Alumni Association of African Ancestry (OA4); a group with membership open to all Oberlin College alumni regardless of racial, ancestry, or national origin; was approved by the Executive Board in fall 1997 as the Alumni Association’s seventh self-defined group.
OA4 serves to facilitate the relationship between the College and Conservatory and their alumni of African ancestry; to increase the visibility of persons of African ancestry and concerns in the life of the institution; to review reporting on the John Mercer Langston Fund and 1835 Fund; and to work with the College and Conservatory to support future and current students. All Oberlin College students are eligible for support and to experience programming from OA4. A representative of OA4 also serves on the Alumni Leadership Council.
