Campus Heating and Cooling Update
The “shoulder seasons” are the times of the year when outside temperatures can swing dramatically between warm days and cool nights. You may notice that indoor temperatures in campus buildings can occasionally feel warmer or cooler than expected. We want to assure everyone that this is a normal part of seasonal transition, and our Facilities team is actively monitoring conditions to maintain a comfortable environment.
Heating and cooling larger institutional buildings is a much different process than adjusting the thermostat in a home. Most Campus buildings rely on centralized systems that must switch between heating and cooling modes, which is not instantaneous. Additionally, buildings with older infrastructure or unique architectural layouts may react differently to these transitions.
We continue to work closely with our contracting partners to fine-tune the performance of newly installed sustainable equipment and ensure systems are operating at peak efficiency. While we do our best to maintain proper thermal comfort for all building occupants, there may be brief periods where spaces feel outside of the typical range we are used to.
We appreciate your understanding and patience during this seasonal shift. If you have specific concerns about your space, please don’t hesitate to submit a work request through TOPdesk, and our team will follow up.
