From a record 642 applicants to the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Competition, these seven Oberlin student and alumni performers were among the 85 pianists who advanced through rigorous review and preliminary audition rounds and will travel to Warsaw next month to participate in the Chopin Competition. This also represents the largest number of contestants participating in this year’s competition from any single music school in the world. They are all students of Professor Dang Thai Son. The official inauguration of the 19th Chopin Competition will take place on October 2. The competition auditions will begin the following day and continue through October 20.
