International Contemporary Ensemble violinist Modney presents Ciaccona with Just Intonation: A Practical Guide to Violin Tuning / A Wilderness Journey with Bach, based on his article of the same title for Sound American which offers a primer on Just Intonation followed by a window into Modney's process of using JI to heighten dissonance/ consonance (darkness/ light) in an adventurous interpretation of Bach's Ciaccona. String students are encouraged to bring their instruments to try out some of the Just Intonation sonorities.

Modney will be on campus with the International Contemporary Ensemble as part of a week-long residency which culminates with a performance with Oberlin's Contemporary Music Ensemble on Friday, April 10 at 7:30pm in Warner Concert Hall.
