Day of Remembrance teach-in

The Day of Remembrance (DOR) marks the anniversary of when President FDR, in 1942, signed Executive Order 9066, which facilitated the removal and incarceration of more 125,000 persons of Japanese ancestry. While the Day of Remembrance is rooted in learning about the past, it also offers an important lens for understanding current injustice in order to take action. During this teach-in, learn about the history of Japanese American wartime incarceration, hear memories and stories from Roy Ebihara, who was incarcerated in New Mexico and Utah as a child, and hear from Mike Ishii '88 about the work of Tsuru for Solidarity, a Japanese American-led activist organization that draws from Japanese American community history to fight for an end to migrant detention and to build relational solidarity in the name of liberation and abolition.

Open to all members of the public
