Cities are complex places, full of public and private institutions doing what they can to manage change and improve people's lives. We know that institutions must seek out community voices as they try and make change or develop programs. But while they are unquestionably the best source of information about their experience and their needs, they are usually not experts in public finance, program design, or zoning. And when things go wrong, these efforts can have as much potential to erode trust with the community as it does to build it. Tackling problems together requires institutions to walk a fine line, and this presentation will address challenges and highlight solutions as we see them in the Integrated Development Cluster of the City of Cleveland.
