Biography

My research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of global political economy, transnational migration, law and society, and political sociology. Broadly speaking, I study how states create order in a highly unequal and conflict-ridden global society. My current research is centered on the regulation and policing of migrant and immigrant populations in global capitalism, with a special focus on the expanding role of digital and biometric surveillance technologies.
