Violin 2026: Expenses

Expenses for the competition encompass all aspects of participation. In addition to the $130 application fee, there is a $350 competition fee.

Housing and meals are provided for each competitor at no charge. Each semifinalist will be assigned a campus dining hall meal card and a room at the Oberlin Hotel that can accommodate up to four guests. The Hotel stay covers the following nights: August 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. Any additional nights must be reserved and paid for by the Competitor.
One meal card, providing three meals a day beginning with dinner on August 4, and ending with breakfast on August 11 will be given to each semifinalist. 

Partial travel reimbursement for the semifinalist is only available for eligible flights and mileage for each participant. For this partial reimbursement, a flight itinerary and receipt of payment including the last 4-digits of the credit card used for payment must be presented. We are not able to honor points used for a flight. More detail regarding travel requirements will be provided upon acceptance. 

Partial reimbursements for some locations include: $1,200 for flights from Korea, China, Singapore, Australia; $750 for flight from Europe; $250 for US flights from the West, South, and East coasts, and $150 for flights coming from the Midwest. Other locations and amounts will be added as needed depending upon the accepted semifinalists' home countries.
 

Please note that competitors under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent.
