Introducing the New Project Management Office
April 11, 2024 2:30 PM
CIT is proud to announce the establishment of our Project Management Office (PMO), a strategic move to enhance the management and execution of complex IT projects.
The Project Management Office, led by Heather Spellman as Director and supported by IT Project Manager Josh Vallee, is vital for ensuring that IT initiatives at Oberlin are executed effectively. Their focus is on delivering these projects on time, within budget and scope, all while surpassing stakeholder expectations.
“We established the IT PMO at Oberlin College to enhance transparency and efficiency in managing technology projects that support our strategic goals. This move ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to best practices, streamlining CIT operations and fostering better collaboration across campus. Ultimately, this initiative improves the digital experience for the entire college community, aligning with CIT’s vision to streamline processes and user experiences.”
— Marcel Mutsindashyaka, Chief Information Officer, Oberlin College.
The PMO will focus on several strategic areas:
- IT Project Portfolio Governance & Management: Establish and manage the process for submitting, scoping, approving, budgeting and scheduling IT projects to ensure alignment with CIT and college goals and to schedule projects in a strategic and transparent manner.
- IT Project Management: Manage strategic IT projects on a day-to-day basis using the CIT Project Management Framework and Monday.com with the goal of completing projects on time, within budget, within scope and meeting or exceeding stakeholder expectations.
- IT Governance: Collaborate with the CIO to establish robust governance frameworks for IT investments, operations, and decision-making.
- Champion IT Project Management Culture: Guide CIT staff in adopting the CIT project management framework and project management tools.
