My name is Shelby Roth, and I am a second-year student on the women’s field hockey team. I am majoring in economics and considering a minor in Global Health. Outside of practicing and studying, I enjoy getting coffee with friends, tutoring peers, and writing for the Review. I also love trying new restaurants and exploring local shops around Oberlin.
One of the main reasons I chose Oberlin was the opportunity to experience a small-town community that extends beyond campus. I appreciate being able to explore the town, discover new places, support local businesses, and build connections with the broader Oberlin community. Whether I am grabbing a coffee, trying a new restaurant, or browsing local shops, I enjoy discovering new places and making the most of what the town offers.
On campus, some of my favorite spots include getting coffee at Azzie’s, studying with friends in the Science Center Atrium, and taking walks around the Arboretum. I value the balance between academics, athletics, and time with friends, and I appreciate how Oberlin offers opportunities to pursue all three. Whether I am on the field, working on a writing assignment, or exploring town, I am always looking for new experiences and ways to connect with the Oberlin community.
