Honors Program

Gender, Sexuality and Feminist Studies (GSFS) majors in their senior year may be accepted into the Honors Program to conduct independent, original research or a creative project.

Consideration for admission to the Honors Program takes place during the second semester of the junior year, by invitation of GSFS faculty members or by self-nomination.

To qualify, juniors must normally have a 3.25 GPA overall at Oberlin College, and a 3.5 GPA in courses listed in the student’s individually approved course plan for the GSFS major. Applicantsmust have completed at least six Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies Program courses including the Feminist Research Methodologies course by the end of their junior year.

Interested students should consult the program director early in their junior year to identify a potential project and review the application process.

The GSFS Committee on Honors and Majors will consider applications for the Honors Program and will make recommendations for acceptance. Student applicants will be informed of the outcome and any feedback in writing by the end of the reading period in the second semester of their junior year.
