Philip Bouley

Biography

Philip Bouley took on the role of Energy and Resource Coordinator in 2026 for the Office of Energy and Sustainability. He works primarily with Oberlin’s energy monitoring system that helps the college view its utility data in real time in order to increase energy efficiency and cut down on waste. He is also involved with a variety of other sustainability actions on campus including the Carbon Neutrality commitment, sustainable grounds initiatives and various student groups. 

 Philip joined the college after a decade of working in agricultural management, education and technology. After graduating from University of Redlands with a Bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Agriculture and Economics he worked managing farms in Hawaii and Arizona before completing a Master’s degree in Climate Science and Solutions from Northern Arizona University. Philip then joined the United States Peace Corps and served as an Agricultural Extension agent in a small rice farming community in southeastern Ghana for several years before returning to California where he grew up. Upon returning to the states Philip worked on several projects with Google X for the purpose of integrating machine learning and AI into agricultural practices to increase the efficiency of the operations. Philip then worked in agricultural education in Carnation Washington where he led a farmer in training program before moving out to Ohio in the summer of 2023 to help his wife take over her family’s farm. In Ohio, Philip served as a landfill gas technician in Oberlin while developing the farm business that he and his wife manage. 

In his free time, you will find Philip outdoors fishing, gardening, golfing and hiking. He enjoys spending time with his two dogs and two cats and watching bad action movies with his wife. An avid sports fan, you are likely to see Philip at various Cleveland sporting events enjoying the atmosphere and the concessions.
